About Eddie Iverson and Courant Creative

Born into a creative and artistic family, Eddie Iverson expressed a strong interest and love for art, typography, music and architecture from a very young age. As a child, he was drawn to the unique design of the IDS tower in Minneapolis and the I.M. Pei-designed Everson Museum in Syracuse. Visits there and to the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis provided important inspiration to Eddie’s young artistic mind. He was also drawn to the contemporary artwork on his family’s walls from artists like Miro and Picasso, including hand-sketched portraits of Bartok and Stravinsky.

As Eddie grew older, he got more serious about art and music as a young teenager, where he enjoyed working in clay and grew his proficiency on musical instruments from piano and percussion to include drums, guitar and bass. In addition to his fine arts studies in high school which included drawing and painting, he participated in several summer programs for young artists, which brought him back to the Everson campus. This arts complex was an area he grew up spending time in, regularly attending events and concerts there every week. Since adulthood, Eddie has enjoyed and studied art at places like the I.M. Pei-modernized Louvre in Paris and galleries across the U.S. and Europe from Florence to the South of France.

The iconic Star Wars logo provided one of Eddie’s first typographic inspirations as an elementary school student. Another earlier inspiration was Eddie’s fascination with the details of typography in a wide-ranging set of personalized name stickers, which inspired him to start sketching and hand-drawing letters and words frequently from that same young age. Eddie soon became the go-to person in the family for lettering on cards and presents of all kinds.

Eddie has always loved color and has a deep perception of and emotional connection to it. He is an aficionado of Swiss modernism, which is something he was drawn to long before studying it.

His earliest work in layout design as a young person was a combination of paste-up and Pagemaker layout. Prior to that, Eddie used to help his father do hand lettering and paste-up layouts of newsletters and flyers while still in elementary school.

Eddie cut his graphic design teeth doing freelance work along with magazine and newspaper jobs. He went on to work for several ad agencies and was mentored by several outstanding creative directors and senior art directors. During this time, Eddie worked on campaigns for Fortune 500 clients including Eastman Kodak, GE, Bausch & Lomb, Xerox and Fox TV. In addition to graphic design and advertising work, Eddie also continued to work in music production, including music for advertising and television.

Eddie has always worked in both the art and music worlds and enjoys helping musical artists enhance their perception and fulfill their artistic vision through great design.

Eddie took the years of experience gained from his New York advertising agency work and launched his own firm in Denver. Courant Creative was forged out of the need Eddie saw for putting agency-level branding, strategy, design, effective communication and a wide range of creative services within the reach of small and medium-sized businesses. Today’s marketing and advertising landscape is in a constant state of flux and evolution, and Eddie has a passion for strategizing and implementing new ways for brands to successfully position themselves, tell their stories and make meaningful connections with their prospects and fans.
